Mesquite High School Rifle Coach

This page is dedicated to Adolph Perthius a  rifle coach who gave very much to the Mesquite
HS Rifle Team. He coached at Mesquite High School in Mesquite, TX. for 15 years. The
Mesquite Rifle Team started its' winning tradition his first season as coach.  Recently the MHS
Rifle has been the state champions for 7 out of the last 8 years. The past Skeeter rifle teams have finished second in the nation three times: 1991, 1995, & 1996. Morris Herring was the national champion runner-up in 1991 at the National Guard Junior Air Rifle Position Championships held at West Point Naval Academy. In 1996 Kurt L. Wojtowicz won the Texas State Champion and the was the first National Champion to emerge from Mesquite, he won the National Guard Junior Air Rifle Position Championships held in Little Rock Ark. Kurt then accepted a scholarship to shoot on a NCAA College Rifle Team. I would just like to take this opportunity to thank Sergeant Adolph Perthius for all he has done for Mesquite HS and all that he has done for me.  He has been a role model for a countless number of high school student athletes, and continues to do so.  So from the bottom of my heart thank you for everything you have done for me, you'll always be my coach.
