We'd like to give you instructions on using the Date Line so that you'll know what to expect when you call. If you've never called the Date Line before, this will help you find the person you're seeking much faster and easier. You won't need to write this down or memorize it, since the Date Line gives you this info when you call, but it is provided here so you will be familiar with it before you call.

When you call, you'll first hear a short introduction (that isn't charged against your time) welcoming you to the service. It will then prompt you to enter the 4-digit extension of the Date Line you are calling. At that point you will enter 3016.

Next it will ask you to enter your 3-digit area code, so it will know which ads you want to browse through. You do not have to enter your own area code if you're looking for someone in another area (for instance, if you're moving or travelling to a particular area). In that case you would enter the area code for the location you are interested in.

Now you are given the specific menu options, which are:

• 1 to record your own ad for others to hear
• 2 to browse ads randomly
• 3 to leave a message for a specific mailbox ID
• 4 to retrieve messages others have left in response to your ad

Placing Your Own Ad (Option 1)

If you enter a '1' to place your own ad, you will be prompted to enter the section to place your ad in. For example:

• 1 if you're a man seeking a woman
• 2 if you're a woman seeking a man
• 3 if you're a man seeking another man
• 4 if you're a woman seeking another woman
• 5 if you're a couple seeking another couple
  

You are then given the chance to record your ad.



Browse Ads Randomly (Option 2)

If you enter a '2' to browse ads randomly, you will be prompted to enter the type of situation you want. For example:

• 1 if you're a man seeking a woman
• 2 if you're a woman seeking a man
• 3 if you're a man seeking another man
• 4 if you're a woman seeking another woman
• 5 if you're a couple seeking another couple
  

At that point, you will hear the ads you're interested in. If you hear an ad and decide this person isn't for you, simply press '3' to immediately skip to the next ad. This saves a lot of time and allows you to listen to more ads in the same amount of time. At the end of each ad, you are given that person's mailbox ID, which you will use to respond to that ad should you wish to do so.

Respond To A Specific Ad (Option 3)

Once you have decided whom you're interested in, you can respond to that ad. You can do that immediately upon hearing that ad, or from the main menu of the system. From the main menu, enter a '3' to respond to a specific ad. It will prompt you for the mailbox ID, which you then enter. You then record your response, and it is there for the person to retrieve when they call in and get their messages.

Retrieve Your Messages (Option 4)

Enter a '4' to retrieve the responses to your own ad. This will play the responses sequentially. This part is really fun, since you'll hear people who liked your ad. It's a good feeling listening to people respond to your ad and tell you what they liked about it and how they'd like you to contact them.
