Scientific Skepticism

Thanks to Joe Champion for his very thoughtful critique. This is the type of
open discussion which is needed to get to the truth. Although opinionated,
Joe's opinions are not to be taken lightly. It is regrettable that Hudson
himself chooses not to participate in these discussions. His
transcriptionist, Barry Carter, can accurately quote him but cannot think for
him.

And, Joe is absolutely right: The investors in Hudson's venture have an
absolute right to know the truth about what is going on. If this turns out
to be a scam, there are going to be some very angry people. Let's proceed
with our studies as if it were not a scam.

Just a brief observation about Barry Carter's critique on the Theory
submission. The implication in his critique is that the "Theory Paper" is to
be a composite summary of Hudson's statements. i.e. If Hudson didn't say
it, it is inappropriate to include in the Theory Paper.

Let me just say that it wasn't my intent to just restate in one summary
document what Carter has already documented so well in various transcripts.
Science is a seamless tapestry. The intent of the Theory Paper is to weave
Hudson's new discoveries into the known, existing tapestry such that the
discoveries can become a part of the whole. If the discoveries can't be
fitted into the overall existing tapestry, an impartial observer might
conclude that there is something faulty with the discovery.

Even in the paranormal world, much work is being done to reweave the
scientific tapestry to include events which heretofore were unexplainable by
existing theories.

To do this weaving requires a lot of input from established scientists and
other thoughtful people who have either confirmed or disconfirmed Hudson's
various claims. In this context, the comments of established scientists are
actually of more importance than those of Hudson himself.

I realize that the Theory Paper is currently sorely lacking in the area of
independent verification or rebuttal. But that's the purpose of this
unmoderated, unregulated, "gossip" (as Carter describes it) forum. It
generally takes a lot of people and a lot of discussion to eventually
converge on what most might consider to be the "truth." I see my task to be
to document the results of this search in a reasonably objective manner which
most will eventually accept. Hopefully, Hudson's discoveries will survive
longer than Tesla's which didn't fit into established science all that well,
for whatever reasons.

One last comment before I bore all of you to death with my ramblings:

When I asked Hudson during our January 15, 1996 interview what his greatest
fear was, he answered that he feared the FDA the most. It was for that
reason that he established the foundation to which he would contribute at no
charge 25 percent of his total production. Members of the foundation could
use the material anyway they wished as long as it was for
Constitutionally-protected "spiritual" purposes. No comments about the
medical efficacy of the white powder should ever be made nor should there
ever be any commercial transactions of the white powder for medical purposes.
In other words, you won't ever find Hudson's white powder being sold in any
business establishment.

Hudson says that he is personally operating under an FDA waiver of sorts
which allows him to pursue his "alleged" cancer research without FDA
oversight. (It is interesting that none of these "alleged" cancer
researchers has ever checked into this forum.)
It might be a good idea if we were to purge the words "medical" or "healing"
or "curative" from our vocabulary as they relate to this forum and its works.

With respect to all of you who are trying your best to find the truth...

Everett
