Summary
Chronic disease is causal in nature. Prescribing should be done primarily on the basis of the knowledge of causes. All known or suspected causes should be treated. Knowledge of important causes is based on clinical evidence, although the degree to which any one cause is involved is specific to the case at hand. Shocks and traumas during one's lifetime, including at the time of conception and in utero, need to be treated in the reverse order of their occurrence following Hering's time principle of natural healing. The miasms, which pre-date conception, need to be treated next. Finally, one needs to balance the constitution. Once the causes have been addressed and effectively removed, then one re-enters the world of general homeopathy, where symptoms are the predominant factor and cause is taken into account where it is obvious and immediate. In the causal world, remedies have relationships to certain causes which are in the nature of a "genus etiologicus" much like the "genus epidemicus." There are one or a few remedies that have been shown from practice to remove the effects of a given past unresolved trauma. There will be several or many remedies that are required to be given over time where there are several or many causes over time. Where more than one trauma has occurred at the same time, or within a very short time frame as part of a reported event or incident, more than one remedy may need to be given at the same time.
The causal sequential approach is the result of a new perspective on disparate threads of thought and practice in homeopathy over the past 150 years. This new perspective makes simple what was previously more complex and provides a more therapeutic tool than previously existed. Homeopaths using it can more effectively treat more people suffering from complex, chronic ailments, yet, it does not negate the previous knowledge any more than the new physics negates Newton's Laws. Instead, it provides a more satisfying explanation for the same observable facts, just as the Copernican model of the universe rendered things clearer than the Ptolemaic one. Science prefers the simple to the complex explanation. With it comes more predictability and power, in this case, power to assist the healing process. |
