Case 1
A young German Jewess after a protracted ailment, during which she had been at various medical institutions for treatment, was ultimately placed in the hand of Dr. D. Her case was diagnosed as Bright's disease, as most of her symptoms pointed towards it. Her urine was full of albumen and casts. Her feet, legs, and face were swollen and puffy. Throbbing headache, nose bleeding and vomiting were some of her symptoms. Many remedies were prescribed but the effect was unsatisfactory. On coming to know that the trouble dated from a very large abscess which was badly lanced and cared for, and finding that most of her symptoms started from that date, the doctor gave Pyrogenium CM. Soon after, improvement started but it took fully 5 months before she was absolutely cured. Case 2 NB, child 4 years old, resided in a house in which plumbing was being repaired. A few days after was attacked at 2 am with vomiting and purging; stools profuse and watery. Cold extremities, ears and nose; forehead bathed in cold perspiration. Tongue heavily coated, yellowish-gray; edges and tip very red. Great prostration. Great restlessness, mental and physical; pulse 140, small and wiry; temperature 99. Great thirst for small quantities, but the smallest quantity was instantly rejected. Later in day stool was horribly offensive, of a carrion-like odour; face pale, sunken, bathed in cold perspiration. Tongue dark red and free from heavy coating of early morning, intense thirst but water aggravates both vomiting and purging. After Verat, Ars, Carbo veg and Bapt had been given, with no improvement, the patient evidently sinking, impossible to count the pulse, thinking perhaps sewer-gas poison may have been the factor, and the clean fiery-red tongue called my attention to Dr. Burnett's cures in the Homoeopathic World with Pyrogenium I gave two doses dry on the tongue with prompt and permanent relief. (Allen) Case 3 An old woman dying with gangrene inoculated one of her nurses; the nurse had chills, high fever and red streaks running up the arm following the course of the lymphatics. Pyrogenium rapidly removed the whole process. (Boger) Dr. Choudhury says its usefulness is very great for the female sexual system. He uses it in puerperal fever with offensive lochia. It is also thought of in septicemia following abortion especially when the fetus is retained and the decomposed insides emit a horrible odor. The following cases are reported by Dr. W. Case 4 Mrs. T.B., pale, slender, delicate but in good health; primipara; was successfully delivered April 10th 1901. On the 20th found her with a temperature of 102; lochia scanty, pale, offensive; but she felt well and had no pain. Fever increased in severity gradually for several days until temperature reached 105 and 106; with pulse of 120 - 130; still she insisted she felt well and would not go to bed. Several remedies: Bapt., Bell., Echin., Tarent-c were given without effect. Finally a severe shaking chill followed in a few hours by another sent her to bed and the nurse was recalled. Pyrogenium was given. Following day temperature was 102; lochia reappeared in natural colour; the abdominal sensitiveness ceased and in two or three days disappeared entirely. She rapidly recovered. Case 5
Mrs. W. C., a slender woman; primipara; delivered June 10th, 1896 instrumental. Severe perineal laceration, which was repaired. The morning of the third day had ague; cutting spasmodic pain in uterus, which was swollen and sensitive; lochia dark, profuse, clotted; both iliac regions sensitive to pressure,
Case 6
Mrs. W. F. has had painful menstruation for several years, always preceded by aching in bones, causing her to complain of the bed being hard, and accompanied by intolerable restlessness. Better when first beginning to move and she has to keep this up, as it affords some relief to the restlessness. I saw her have one of these spells, and she was on the floor, and she would curl up and then straighten out, and then turn and twist in every possible position. The CMM of Pyrogenium would always relieve her till now she does not have the aching. (Tyler)
Case 7
Mrs. M has been troubled for some time with bearing down feelings in the uterine region, relieved by holding her breath and pressing down ai in labour. She was very restless at night and had to keep in motion, as only then could she get any relief. (Better when first beginning to move). Cured by Pyrogenium DMM. (Tyler)
Case 8
Carie, 16 years, had been sick 2-3 months and was under allopathic care. Breath, perspiration, expectoration, menses, urine and faces horribly offensive, carrion-like; disgust up to nausea about an effluvia that arises from her own body; soreness of the chest and abdomen, menses last but one day and a sanguineous leucorrhoea, that is of about the same odour; pulse 106 with a bad cough, worse coming into a warm room; large, fleshy, pale, greenish or chlorotic face. mother having just died of consumption. Pyrogenium CM one dose, and better in 10 hours, and on Nov. 12th cough, odour and soreness nearly all gone; pulse 80, tongue clean. Sac Lac was continued till she became quite well.
Case 9
Woman, 69, no h.o. "indigestion attacks" or appendix upsets; under homoeopathy for years, sudden attack of right lower quadrant pain with vomiting, rebound tenderness, WBC 10,000, polys 78%, fever 100F, pulse rapid but good; held her side and flexed knee; thirsty, wants to be left alone. Bry 1mM one dose, and placebo. Averse to operation. Blood count rose to 14,000, polys 93%, fever 102. Rectal examination showed tender mass in right fornix. Became restless, worse at early night; Rhus-t 1M. Next morning the fever was lower, pulse 120 nervous moments! The surgeon said, "Pray, but do not operate." Pyrogenium 200C, three doses, once an hour. After the second dose the patient had a chill and turned blue (perforation), followed by diarrhoea for several hours of masses of foul pus. During this she felt better and went on to a quick recover. No symptoms of ileocaecal or ovarian pain or adhesions. Bowels perfect. health excellent thereafter. "Pretty lucky," said the surgeon. "Three cheers for my subsequent health and Homoeopathy," said the patient. Do not misunderstand me sometimes we must all recommend operation for fulminating cases, first seen too late, or unwisely purged. In my experience the ones cured medically do far better. (Wright-Hubbard, p. 256)
Case 10
Male. Coldness and chilliness no fire can warm. Grew more restless towards night. Had been breathing hot air from fire, now had a desire for fresh air, or his lungs would burn up. Groaned all night, and rolled and tumbled from one side of the bed to the other, not lying on one spot but a moment at a time. The bed was as hard as a board, the pillow was hard, and he was as sore as if a train had run over him. He tried to lie on his face, but found that that side of his body was sore too. Before daylight he awoke and told his wife he was so glad that he had got rid off those arms and legs that had crowded him all night; if he turned over they were there, and he was trying all night to get them out off bed. He took two or three doses of Pyrogenium CMM. (Tyler) |
